I wrote my first play in 2010. Its world premiere production that same year played to over 99% capacity. It's 2014 remount became the best-selling production in the thirty-year history of its venue. And a dozen other companies have produced it since.
I'm a historian by training: American History major specializing in mass social movements with an emphasis on the Civil War Era. What fascinates me most in those moments of sweeping, epochal change isn't their operatic scale or the reaffirmation that, if enough people come together in the service of a single goal, real change is possible. What really pulls me in are the remarkable single human catalysts at the eye of those hurricanes. How people who never set out to change the world nonetheless forever altered both their and our everyday lives in massive ways--by doing nothing more than trying to live their fullest truth.
As a lifelong Wisconsonite with a strong sense of place and deep affinity for home, I'm particularly drawn to our stories. We've contributed a great deal to the fabric of this nation--and the world--and I'm compelled and eager to represent.
I hope you'll give a glance at one of the plays below. There are more coming. I promise.
